As serious as your life

Taken from Kieran Hebden's third offering Rounds as Electronic artist Four Tet, it seemed somewhat apt as a title given the bizarre and confusing circumstances we currently find ourselves in right now. I happened to be listening to Four Tet whilst writing this.
I don't want to go into the specifics of Covid-19 and hopefully this blog post will quickly become a footnote in history to mark a time we look back upon and realise society changed, and for the better.
We've descended into self-aggrandisement, avarice and individualism the like of which I don't think has ever existed before. Through this, I hope we learn to give more, be kinder, judge less, feel community and generosity of spirit as a predominant way of life.
And give.
This is part of how I give: writing about my love of music. How many people it reaches and touches, I scarcely know or indeed want to. In this time of confusion we all need things to hold onto, and mine will be the hours, days, weeks, months and years I have enjoyed the artistry, variety, beauty, breadth and majesty of electronic music.
If you want to FEEL alive, sit in a room with one of these albums on, alone, and listen.
Really listen.
Take in every note, beat, melody, sample, vocal and try and let it wash across your soul. If you connect with music like I do, it will make you smile and reduce you to tears at least once a week, and make you become more aware of the world around you; a meditative state occurs whilst listening for some, and at this time you can tune into the stillness and feel calm, feel reassured, feel uplifted:
Boards Of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
The Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur
Four Tet - New Energy
FSOL - Lifeforms
Global Communication - 76:14
Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain
Jon Hopkins - Singularity
Lemon Jelly - Lost Horizons
The Orb - The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld
Rival Consoles - Persona
Röyksopp - Melody AM
Ryuichi Sakamoto - async
William Basinski - On Time Out Of Time
Take that into your day, every day.
Nothing will be more important in the coming weeks and months for our society.
Stay safe, be kind, help people and look after those you love.
